I am currently full time with Mount Sinai Health System, working as part of a system integrations team supporting the Department of Emergency Medicine. My focus is on internal communications, working across the organization, on projects in education, research, and clinical care.

Starting at Mount Sinai in mid-2019, I began at an offsite ambulatory and urgent care practice, with a primary goal of connecting directly with the community. Throughout my first six months, with a foundation of relationships with the internal clinical teams at that practice, I led and produced community engagement events throughout Brooklyn. During COVID-19, I honed in on the meaning of a internal-first approach to communications. My work during the pandemic included supporting clinical guideline creation, leadership communications and updates, and onsite employee engagement efforts.

In early 2021, my role expanded to the Department of Emergency Medicine. Foundational projects included participating on a construction redesign project for a new Emergency Department and partnering with executive and multi-disciplinary team members. In that time, I designed and launched a standardized email group infrastructure for the Emergency Departments, enabling for the first time, a method by which to communicate internally with a 2000 person department. The email group infrastructure is maintained to present, informed by organizational IT, with documentation, process, and learning tools for managers. This work brought new understanding to HR analogous stats (such as how many employees an department has), and enabled downstream work such as employee gifting. Working with faculty leaders in resilience, I managed the purchase of a departmental wide employee wellness gift: a water bottle, with an internal message of helping our employees hydrate.

In 2022, working with emergency medicine executives, I developed a comprehensive monthly internal newsletter, which has continued to present, representing a complete view of the department, including work happening in clinical quality, safety, workplace violence, and patient experience. Alongside, I worked to set guidance for ad hoc communications such as leadership appointments, and building scalable pathways for communicating clinical guidance. During this year, I become increasingly involved in the organizations diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, participating in leadership capacities for the NYC Pride Parade, and being in an early cohort of unconscious bias and conversations on race trainings. As a white cis male, I see myself as an ally and understand the importance of that, with my work growing, now including a co-chair role focused on asian equity and professional development.
